A Christmas Carol - Milwaukee Rep

Caroler Gown

This gown, made for Vivian Vaeth as a Caroler/Belle Understudy, is a copy of pre-existing gown. I made no mock-up, but did assemble and finish the gown, receiving assistance with pattern-matching from my first hand. The gown is made from brocade, lined with coutille for the bodice and cotton for the skirt. The bones were applied externally from the lining to make for easier alteration – steel bones at center-front and center-back, and spiral bones along curves. I cut, ground, and capped the bones myself. Lace for finishing was gathered then applied by hand, and the cameo brooch was applied with snaps for easy removal.
