Wife of a Salesman - Milwaukee Rep

Mistress’s Robe

Bryce Gangel as Mistress/Violet

This robe for the unnamed mistress of the sequel to Death of a Salesman was a two-person project, shared by myself and my first hand. I assembled the outer layer of the robe and the mock-up. We worked together to quilt a layer of batting between two layers of fabric by standard sewing machine. She assembled the lining, and I finished the robe with top-stitching and a prick-stitch hem. The robe is made from a very light silk, lined with a silk-blend.

Wife’s Coat

Heidi Ambruster as Wife/Heather

The coat for the unnamed wife was a shop-wide endeavor. I assembled the mock-up and fabric version of the coat. This was my experience assembling a half-canvas wool garment – padstitching at the lapels and shoulders shown in the sixth image. Significant alterations were made by others between the first fitting and completion of the coat. However, I did complete some of the finishing, specifically the top-stitching at the pockets, at reverse-box-pleat in the back, and along the lining.

Wife’s Skirt

Heidi Ambruster as Wife/Heather

As my first full project from Milwaukee Rep, I worked on this skirt from mock-up to finished garment. The skirt is wool, lined with a poly-blend. It is finished with top-stitching at the top of the reverse box-pleat at front, along the zipper at the side, and along the waistband.
